CONNECTING EXPERIENCE AND THOUGHT

Will people with different experience and knowledge write the same correct result when faced with the same problem? I think it would have been written differently but both sides are right. In primary school, there was a very special teacher in the Chinese class. He has a strange habit of speaking Chinese ancient poetry in concert with the things around him. The first day of school was a hot and rainy day. The first thing he said to the student when he came into the classroom was “Residual rainbow harvests rain and lacks new streams on the shore”. It means a broken rainbow appeared in the air, the rain stopped, and the lake water overflowed from the gap in the embankment and became a new stream. It is about the scenery of the midsummer rain and sunny days. At that time, my classmates and I had not understood his meaning, but later after searching on the Internet to understand the poetry, I knew that the teacher was cooperating with the ancient poetry and the rain that day, welcomed us to the new semester.

In class, the teacher talked about ancient poems from time to time. He never explained the meaning of ancient poems, just like accidentally speaking a mantra, can be ignored or remembered. In winter, the Christmas holidays are approaching. After the examination, everyone was very excited and had high expectations for the holiday. The teacher came into the classroom. There was a smell of perfume as he passed in front of me. The teacher said a poem when he saw us, but this time he stopped in the middle of it.
“There’s a feeling of snow coming after dark,” And then explain to us what that means, “The sky was overcast, and it looked like it was going to snow at night”. He asks a question, what is the second half of the sentence. He gave a cue, which was set at home and in conversations with friends. The students in the classroom discussed the correct answer, while some raised their hands to guess or make interesting answers. In the end, most people give up and give funny answers. For example, someone said the night of heavy snow is to leave his friend in his home to have a Christmas party and play games all night. We all know that there was no such culture in ancient times. The classroom was full of laughter. Teacher told the answer to the complete ancient poem, “There’s a feeling of snow coming after dark, would you like to join me for a drink tonight?” The teacher said that the answer to the Christmas party was very close to the correct answer, but in fact there was no right or wrong answer in the question he gave. He just wanted to see what we could relate to. In his interpretation, the word snow appears, and we associate it with our life experience, with Christmas and cold weather, but we don’t associate it with rice wine and snow, because we haven’t tried it.

After this lesson, this idea has been very influential in my writing. No one can define your definition. Maybe in something you think is not true, but in my personal experience, it is true. No one is necessarily right or wrong, we just have different opinions. The shift in my writing is to reduce some fixed opinions and prejudices, and to add some elements of the wild. Whether this direction is right or wrong, there is no result yet, but it is better than boring fixed format to write. This meaningful class also changed my choice of action. I increased the experience of strange new things. Of course, I’m afraid of new things will not be successful, but at least it gives me a reason to be brave. The differences between people cannot be explained by one sentence, environment of growth is a big cause. It’s not something we can control, but we can inclusive acceptance and talk to different race of people in school, workplace or internet. More fresh and familiar topics, experience ideas and culture. Facing unfamiliar problems in project, it will increase the chances of a solution.
